Writer's Block: Revolutionary Thought

It's the anniversary of the Russian Revolution, marking the Marxist overthrow of the Russian government. Karl Marx once wrote that "religion is the opium of the people." What is the new opium of the people?

England

Well I've been in England for almost 2 weeks now. It really feels much longer than that though. The weather is really wet and cold, something I will have to get used to. My flat is nice, my room and w.c. are both small but thats okay.  The leaves are all starting to turn the falls of color. It really is a lovely sight, but means winter is on its way. I've been told the wind comes across Siberia so I should expect a bitter cold winter. Others say its not so bad. I guess we'll find out soon enough.  The city of Canterbury is really a beautiful city, I love the mix of old and new. The cathedral centuries old sits in the heart of the city.  New shops have been built into old building, its just amazing.

Writer's Block: The X-Files Birthday

Never really watched the show, I've seen one or two episodes, but not enough to pick a favorite or anything. As for experiencing paranormal activity, I will admit that I have on several occasions.  It happens at a video store I work at on occasion. At closing time I lock to doors, then do a walk through to ensure there isn't anyone still there. Afterwards I turn off the televisions and take the money in the back to be counted. We have a door chime that goes off whenever anyone comes into the store, we also have security gates that been whenever someone walks through with a movie or with something that has a security sticker on it.
So last week when I'm was in the back counting the cash I  heard the door chime go off, so I run up to the front thinking that I might have forgotten to lock the door. Of course when I get up there and check it out, the doors are secure and there is still no one in the store. As I am walking back to the office the security gates start beeping so I turn to see what the heck is going on. Of course there is no one there, but by this time I have goose bumps on my arms. I returned to the back to finish up the deposit., the entire time I feel as if there is someone else there and I keep turning around expecting to see someone in the doorway, I shake it off and go back to doing the deposit when I hear some movies fall. Now I have already gone through the store the straighten the movies and cases,  so I know all the cases are on the shelves properly and shouldn't  just fall off. So I get up and walk out to have another look around.  At this point my mind is going wild with all sorts of scenarios, from some crazed murderer hiding in the drama section waiting to kill me, to a vampire lurking in the shadows by the marquee.  I walked through the store looking for any signs of someone else being there. Of course there is no one one there, I do however find two cases on the floor. I bent over to pick them up and put them back on the shelf, when I glanced down at the titles I was a bit startled, they weren't even cases, they were movies from another section. I was in the southeast corner of the store in the T's of the new release wall. These were two vhs movies from the action section, which are on the other side of the store. By this time I was getting more and more freaked out.  Then I hear the alarm again, so I whip around intending on yelling at whoever it is, but there is no one there. I walked over checked the door again confirming they were secure, went back and finished the deposit and then got out of the store.  If ghosts, spirits, etc.. are going to come rent movies I really wish they would do so when I wasn't working, or better yet they should go to the theatre.

Writer's Block: Sharing Haikus

The Japanese haiku poet Basho once wrote, "Old pond / a frog jumps / the sound of water." Try writing some of your own haikus about the little things in your life. A haiku generally consists of a five-syllable line, a seven-syllable line and a second five-syllable line. You can also use any combination of ten-to-fourteen syllables.

Writer's Block: You and A Fictional Character of Your Choice

Okay so I'm stranded on a desert island with the fictional character of my choice, let me see whom do I choose. Well the character that first pops into my head is Edward Cullen. Yes I will admit I am an avid Twilight fan, I don't care about the movie really, but the books are amazing.  The character of Edward is the perfect man, old fashioned, protective, loving,  just everything I want in a guy. Being that he is a vampire he can swim very fast and we could leave the island when we were ready. Though I certainly wouldn't be any hurry with Edward around.
My other choice is definitely the Doctor. I mean come on, he's gorgeous and he happens to have the TARDIS so we could easily just hop in and go anywhere in time or space. It would be brilliant.  Besides he needs a new companion and I think I would fit the bill rather nicely.
Okay enough daydreaming, back to reality. Sigh.....

Writer's Block: Feeling Better

Playing the piano always helps me feel better when I'm angry or upset. I like to pick a fast piece and play the heck out of it. I doubt my neighbors enjoy it as much as I do though. I usually play it though a couple of times until all the anger and frustration is gone, then I play a quiet calm piece just to mellow out.

Writer's Block: You, the Movie

If my life were made into a movie what type of movie would it be? A really boring one, lol! Okay so it wouldn't be completely boring there would definitely be some exciting moments. Like last year when I went to England and every fell apart and I was homeless in a foreign country with not much money, then my mum left her purse in a cafe with all her money and documents. We raced around trying to find it, luckily the girl working there found it and kept it safe until I returned for it.  I think my life would be a dramatic comedy. I'm an incredibly clumsy person who manages to trip over flat surfaces so I would be the comedic relief of dramatic moments.  I'm not sure who I would have play me, I'm not pretty enough to have any of the great actresses play me.  I mean I always wished I looked like some of the beautiful hollywood stars but I don't.
But since this is in no way reality I think I'd like to have Clair Danes portray my character.  I'm not sure who I would have play my mum I think Diane Keaton would be a good candidate.  My gran would be played by Olympia Dukakis and my grandfather by Tom Skerritt.  My brother would be none other than Toby Maguire.  It would definitely be a crazy movie as I have a crazy family.  There is a lot of drama and arguing that goes on in my family but in the end we all love one another.  My great gran would also have to be a part of the film as she played a huge role in my life. Shirley MacLaine would be perfect especially if she played her role of Ouiser from steel magnolias. Jonathan (friend) would be played by James McAvoy, Erica (boss and friend) played by Cameron Diaz and Annette (roommate) by Ashley Judd.

Countdown Commencing

So there is approximately 70 days before I leave for the U.K. again. I have to admit that I am worried. Last year everything was set (or so I thought) then I get there and find out the the loan I took out has disappeared. I had received word that everything was good to go then when I got there I found out my loan wasn't there waiting for me after all. It wasn't dispersed when it was supposed to. To make things worse (if that was possible) my housing fell through.  I had been assured that it would be a quick, easy, inexpensive commute to Canterbury from a little town north of London. Boy was that wrong, not only did it take an hour and half and several train changes, but it was expensive. So after about three weeks of trying to get things sorted I ended up deferring my studies for a year and returning home.
This year is going to be different. I'm going to stay in student housing, the loan has been taken care of for certain this time and I know what to expect when I get there. I'm not allowing myself to get excited though it was to big of a disappointment last year when I had to come back. I won't be happy/relaxed until I'm there and settled in.
